There Are Moments When Life Is Just Splendid

Blogs or Posts, D's Writing, Favorites, Walking And Losing Weight

It’s a beautiful morning here in Virginia. I started it off with a trip to Hardee’s for a couple of fresh-made biscuits and coffee. Eggs and other stuff. Yum. Then I walked/jogged 9 miles in 1:54! That’s a new record (for me). Do you think the breakfast helped? All those carbs? I don’t know but I’ve been walk/jogging for over a week now and it is getting easier. Jogging should be relaxed and fairly effortless it seems to me. It should basically be as easy as walking. That’s the goal, anyway. We will see. I will let you know how it works out.

I hope that some of you who are not exercising will start making the effort!! It is really not so difficult. I didn’t exercise for decades. One day I got so tired of being tired I went for a walk. That’s all you have to do. Go for a walk. Don’t think about it. Just do it. It’s like getting a cup of coffee in the morning. Do you ask yourself if you want a cup of coffee? No. You just go to the kitchen and get one. Well, just go outside and take a walk. Put on your walking shoes.

Go for a walk. Turn off your mind. Listen to some music. Whose in charge of your life, anyway?

Well, enough of that. I don’t intend to just talk about walking and jogging in the future. There are other things to think about and imagine, too.

It’s time for flu shots again. This year Betsy says we are going to get a shot for the Shingles too. That ought to be fun. I’m looking forward to that.

It’s almost time for the leaves to change colors. Why do they change colors? Because nature likes to show off. Nature enjoys displaying her beauty. She has many moods. She can be playful too. A few days ago I was walking along the road, thinking about something, and suddenly an acorn hit me in the soft spot on the top of my head. It was quite painful for a few minutes. I know that some of you are saying “random event” and are scornful of what I am about to say. Because I’m about to say that something is a very good shot. Something hit a moving target. Bullseye! Or, Bloggerbrain!, is probably a better description.

Or, maybe it was a random event. I don’t know. I do know that I am a grandfather again today. Yesterday, Molly was born. My son, Jeremy, and his lovely wife, Sarah, had another child! Now Charlie and Kate have a little sister! They all met for the first time, yesterday. It must have been a wonderful moment.

I can’t wait to see them all. And so, when I was walk/jogging this morning, I felt so much energy, and joy, I went 9 miles in under 2 hours! It was dry, cool and sunny. Freddie Mercury was singing his heart out and I did not have a care in the world. There are moments when life is just splendid.

Welcome to my world.

  1. Such a beautiful post, dear David. As you naturally went from tired to walk, and then naturally from walking to walk/jogging, you are ALSO going from hidden to RIGHT OUT THERE, REEEEEALLY ALIVE, JOYOUS, and incredibly inspiring. What a gift you offer the world. What a gift you ARE. Thank you for choosing LIFE! You are on a great adventure, one that will lead to you infinite joy in ALL areas of your life. Bless you, and THANK YOU. Huge “Robin Road” Hugs!!

PS: “Thomas Bergerson A Place In Heaven” is FABULOUS. I LOVE it. Great jogging and walking music. Maybe in one of your posts you could share you favorite albums, music that you listen to when you walk and jog. I would REALLY appreciate that. 🙂 🙂

    1. Good idea, Robin. The music never seems to get old. Music is key in our search for love, life and greater awareness. I will plan to make a list sometime soon. Celestial Hugs. David.

      1. Thank you SOOOOO much for this, David. You brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for being someone who has their priorities straight and lives from their beautiful heart. So soooo grateful.
